Mikulak Design

Folly

Folly is an audiovisual installation that materializes the artists’ collaborative process. Visitors enter an enclosed space to be bathed in multicolored, undulating light reflected throughout the space from two fields of dichroic film. Combined with ambient sound, this produces a hypnotic, dreamlike environment designed to deconstruct the boundary between inner and outer self. The installation’s behavior enables both exploratory and contemplative interaction within the space.

CONTEXT
Mikulak Sehr is a collaboration between two contemporary artists, Jonathan Mikulak and Terrence Sehr, through which their disparate passions and world views are combined to produce surprising and unpredictable creations. The artists believe there is not one unilateral truth or message about reality. Their collaborative process is designed to generate works that unlock a plurality of possibilities for those who experience them, prompting interactors to reject externally-imposed limits on their own lives.
